فرسان وكهنة by Monther Alkabbani translated as Warriors and Warlocks by Tim Gregory published by Yatakhayaloon

Literary Translation

Literary translation is not simply carrying words from one language to another. It is a recreation of the author’s voice, rhythm, and cultural texture in a new language for a new audience. Arabic and English literary traditions have very different assumptions about how stories are told, how time moves, and how meaning is layered. Bridging that gap is the translator’s job.

I work with publishers, authors, and literary agents on:

Published Works:

My first translated book, Warriors and Warlocks: Outcast by Dr. Monther Alkabbani was published by Yatakhayaloon in 2019. I went on to complete that trilogy, and my most recent translation, Suleima’s Ring by Rima Bali will be coming in summer 2026 from Interlink Press.

Samples:

Samples and excerpts of my work have appeared on arablit.org (from 2017) and in the shortlist booklets for the 2023 (Suleima’s Ring) and 2024 (The Covenant of Women) International Prize for Arabic Fiction.

Genre Interests:

As a reader and a translator, I have a particular passion in SF/F – science fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, alternate history and works that blend these traditions. Arabic genre fiction is underrepresented in English but is a rapidly growing field in the Arab world.

Every work is different and must be handled individually. I welcome inquiries from publishers and authors at any stage.
